Revealing the new rules for success in the future world of work
“Dean delivered one of the most thought provoking and innovative presentations that I have seen in a very long time. Genuine new insight is very rare and the ability to draw implementable business conclusions is virtually unique. Dean has that.”
Steve Martin, Branch Chairperson, Institute of Financial Planning
About the presentation:

There is great deal of uncertainty in business today. You wouldn’t be wrong in thinking the seasons have changed and winter is upon us, the business thermometer is looking decidedly chilled. In September 2008 the world changed forever and although many business leaders are hoping for a return to normal, there is now a new normal and new set of rules for success.
Brave New World uses a combination of the latest business research, humour, multimedia and case studies to reveal what these new rules for success are. You are taken on an exciting journey into the future and shown what business leaders need to do today to ensure competitiveness during what will be a very different decade from the one before.
Using stories taken from yacht racing to life on coral reefs Dean paints a vivid and compelling view of the future of work and highlights the practical steps companies need to follow to become World 2.0 compatible. Thought-provoking, entertaining and powerful, essential for any company strategy away day, team event or conference.
Take home value:
Brave New World is a compelling presentation. By the end of the session, participants will:
- See clearly that the recession and financial crisis has not just been an economic downturn, but is a tipping point between the old and new world of business.
- Understand the impact of a 500-year-old economic cycle and how it is shaping the world today.
- Recognise that if the world has changed we need to do things differently – the world has changed.
- Discover why collaboration, customer experiences, leveraging diversity, reinventing marketing and building more personal values into business are the five keys to building a talented company and succeeding in the new world of work.
- Gain insights into how other companies are successfully driving these changes.
- Recognise what they can do to mobilize the energy, passion and intelligence of their teams.
- Be motivated to think and act strategically.
- Be inspired to think creatively about the future of their company and their department.
Formats
This session can be delivered as a keynote presentation or strategic input, lasting between 60 and 90 minutes. We use full multimedia, laced with humour and relevant case studies. The keynote is adapted for each audience, and can be made industry-specific or function-specific in its application and focus.
The session can be delivered as a workshop, either half day or full day.
The session can be used in conjunction with our work on strategy (see “Beyond Strategy”), as part of a facilitated strategy development session. This would typically last one and a half days, and be overnight at an offsite venue. We use both appreciative enquiry and a ParticiPlan process to assist strategy development for companies or departments within companies.

The feedback about your section was overwhelmingly positive and I think you provided the team with real insight into the context we are operating in and the challenges we might face.
