Over the past decade consultants have been convincing companies that there is a “war for talent”. Now in the midst of a global recession, the question remains is this war still relevant? The Talent Reboot argues that talent management is still crucial for business success, but that the current focus and direction needs to change. We argue that the new talent focus needs to shift from individual talent to creating talented companies. Talented companies focus on having the right systems, procedures, values and supportive culture and their focus is on making the star system before they make star players. We explore how a number of companies are getting this right and what talent themselves can do to maximise the opportunities for themselves and their company.

Formats

This session can be delivered as a keynote presentation or strategic input, lasting between 30 and 75 minutes. We use full multimedia, packed with humour and relevant case studies. The keynote is adapted for each audience, and can be made industry-specific or function-specific in its application and focus.

The session can be delivered as a workshop, either half day or full day.

The session can be used in conjunction with our work on Talent Management (see “The Talent Challenge”), as part of a facilitated strategy development session. This would typically last one and a half days, and be overnight at an offsite venue. We use both appreciative enquiry and a ParticiPlan process to assist strategy development for companies or departments within companies.
